High-Resolution Atmospheric Intelligence for Bangladesh
Weather Today is an independent meteorological data platform engineered to deliver sub-kilometer resolution forecasts, Doppler precipitation radar, and severe weather indicators to citizens, researchers, and communities.
Platform Metrics
Calibrated ground coordinates for all administrative units.
Rapid-update convective precipitation reflectivity.
ECMWF IFS integrated with NOAA GFS multi-model feeds.
Ad-light, privacy-first interface without paywalls.
Our Mission & Purpose
Public Safety in a Dynamic Climate
Bangladesh lies at the apex of the Bay of Bengal, characterized by severe seasonal weather shifts including pre-monsoon Nor'westers (Kalbaishakhi), monsoonal depressions, flash flooding across the Meghna and Jamuna river basins, and tropical cyclonic surges.
Our objective is to bridge the gap between complex meteorological physics and everyday decision-making, providing timely and accessible atmospheric data for farmers, commuters, navigators, and municipal services.
Standardized Emergency Signal Conformance
During maritime depressions and cyclone alerts, Weather Today syndicates official maritime port warning signals (Signals 1 through 10) in exact alignment with public safety bulletins from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
We maintain active tracking for coastal seaports including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra, ensuring users have immediate clarity during severe maritime events.
Scientific Methodology & Data Pipeline
Multi-Model NWP Ensembles
We ingest and blend numerical weather prediction (NWP) outputs from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF IFS 9km), the NOAA Global Forecast System (GFS), and the German Weather Service (DWD ICON).
RealFeel® Biometeorology
Apparent temperature formulations combine ambient dry-bulb temperature, relative humidity, dew-point depression, 10-meter wind velocity, and solar radiative flux to accurately portray physiological heat stress and wind-chill factors.
US-EPA AQI Indexing
Air Quality Index (AQI) ratings are computed using United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) breakpoints for fine respirable particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), coupled with health advisory categorizations.
Editorial Standards & Privacy Architecture
Weather Today operates with a zero-tracking commitment. We do not sell user data, run invasive third-party tracking scripts, or maintain user profiles. Geolocation queries are evaluated ephemerally on-device to match local weather observation nodes.
